How does Implant Concierge know the perfect workflow for my specific case?

The Virtual Treatment Plan Coordinator analyzes your software selection, the teeth missing or teeth that will be extracted at time of surgery as well as your ideal restorative treatment plan. Based upon these variables as well as your geographical location, the Implant Concierge will either provide specific options or in some instances will force certain options that will be required. Guided surgery has traditionally been very confusing based upon all of the rules, but Implant Concierge no longer requires that you remember all of these rules, steps and sequences. We provide them up-front and provide the most efficient work flow available. The web-based program is complex enough for any challenging surgical guided case, but intuitive and simple enough for any dental assistant!

What does the Implant Concierge require to create a CAD/CAM Surgical guide?

Fully Edentulous Arch: A dual scan protocol is best for this type of case. Ensure that the patient has a well-fitting, hard reline denture. Attach x-ray markers to the denture and then acquire a CBCT/ CT scan of the patient wearing the denture with a bite registration to ensure arch separation as well as correct denture positioning at time of scan. Next, remove the denture and acquire the DICOM of the denture by itself.

Partially Edentulous – Complex: (Missing four teeth in a row or no distal posterior tooth) Take a CBCT scan with arch separation while the patient is wearing NO radiographic prosthesis. An .stl file of the diagnostic model is required. You can either ship a model to us in the US or have a local lab digitize the model with an optical scanner. If you have an intra-oral digital impression scanner, that is ideal. Just upload the .stl to the Implant Concierge. An .stl file of the proposed restorative model is also required to ensure that we can create the ideal restorative treatment plan. If the patient has an removal partial denture, take a pick-up impression of the RPD or have a lab create a wax-up. Digitize the proposed restorative model into an .stl and upload directly to Implant Concierge web page.

Simple partial edentulous: Take a CBCT scan with arch separation while the patient is wearing NO radiographic prosthesis. An .stl file of the diagnostic model is required. You can either ship a model to us in the US or have a local lab digitize the model with an optical scanner. If you have an intra-oral digital impression scanner, that is ideal. Just upload the .stl to the Implant Concierge.

What is a radiographic prosthesis?

A prosthesis is worn during the CBCT X-ray and represents the position of missing teeth and dento-alveolar tissues. A radiographic prosthesis is vital to transfer the intended restorative position of the implant from the diagnostic cast to the patient and to record its relationship to the underlying bone.

Sample Radiographic Prosthesis:

  • Dual Scan Radiographic Prosthesis for fully edentulous maxilla
    image image
  • Partially Edentulous Radiographic Prosthesis with Biocryl X
    image
  • Partially Edentulous Radiographic Prosthesis with radio-opaque denture teeth

Return to Services FAQ's

Is a radiographic prosthesis necessary?

Some implant treatment planning software programs require a specific radiographic prosthesis be worn during a CT scan if you plan on utilizing a computer-assisted surgical guide. If you are 100% sure that you will not be using a computer-assisted surgical guide, a radiographic prosthesis is not necessary.

However, Implant Concierge™ highly recommends a radiographic prosthesis be worn during a CBCT scan to correlate the ideal restoration position based upon the diagnostic wax-up to the 3-D implant treatment planning software.

Return to Services FAQ's

Do I need DICOM conversion?

Most implant planning software programs require the purchase of additional software modules that are needed to convert the DICOM data set from the CBCT scan before you are able to open the images in your software. These extra steps can be time-consuming, technique sensitive and are required before you can start treatment planning a case. The cost for DICOM conversion modules range from zero to $55,000 depending on which implant planning software you chose.

What is an Implant Concierge CAD/CAM Surgical Guide?

An Implant Concierge CAD/CAM surgical guide is a guide that we customize with you during our Virtual Implant treatment Planning session. During this VIP meeting, we determine the position of the guided sleeves that are compatible with your surgical kit as well as customize any special design features such as inspection and irrigation windows and the fit of the guide. Once we finish the design, that design is then sent to our in-house 3D medical grade FDA approved printer in San Antonio, TX, that allows us to ensure great QC measures!

How can Implant Concierge™ fabricate accurate provisionals before surgery?

By combining Implant Concierge™ online treatment planning assistance, computer-assisted manufactured surgical guides, and traditional dental laboratory procedures, implant placement can be simulated in the dental laboratory. Provisionals will be “cored-out” allowing a quick chair-side pick-up to accommodate slight variables in depth and direction of the implant placement. Implant Concierge™ can deliver a computer-assisted manufactured surgical guide, abutments and provisionals ready for surgery! Procera’s Nobel Guide, Astra’s Facilitate, 3i’s Navigate and Materialise’s Safe System allow the creation of provisionals that are precise and DO NOT require chair-side pick-up.
